New Hi-Tech Turf Solutions From Scotts

At this year’s BTME, Scotts once again demonstrated its technical know-how with new turf products that deliver balanced nutrition and meet the increasing demand for natural products.

Effect

	Scotts’ new Effect iron liquid has been used on the darker section on the right of this fairway. The clear result is an improved green-up of the turf.

This is a unique new liquid formulation containing a blend of complexed and chelated irons plus an enhanced seaweed extract. This combination gives an almost immediate effect (within three hours) of greening the turf while also hardening the sward to help withstand stress.

Unlike conventional iron sulphate-based products, Effect creates a true green-up and does not blacken the turf, giving a healthy, natural-looking sward. It is equally effective on both acidic and alkaline-based soils, along with all grass types and climates.

In addition, the product is extremely long-lasting with applications only needed every six weeks. In chelated iron, the iron molecule is locked in multiple chemical bonds. These break down slowly giving chelated iron a longer-lasting effect.

The seaweed extract is a natural enzyme-extracted material that is high in betaines and growth promoting hormones. This material boosts plant vigour in stress conditions.

Greenmaster Organic
Demand for fertilizers which use only natural products is on the increase, and Scotts has recognised this need by introducing Greenmaster Organic, which are suitable for a wide range of fine turf and sports applications. It is a granular formulation composed of a mix of organic and natural ingredients guaranteed free from disease, weeds or other contamination.

The mineral and organic part provide the grass plant with essential nutrients, and the organic component stimulates soil micro-organisms. Greenmaster Organic feeds the turf and stimulates soil life in one treatment.

There are three products to choose from; high nitrogen and high potassium for fine turf, and Sportsmaster Organic, a high nitrogen version for sports outfields.

These fertilizers provide a naturally slow-release source of nutrients that ensure an even growth without growth peaks. They can help increase the Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) of the soil, therefore increasing the efficiency of nutrient applications both now and in the future. The products also improve soil structure, natural nutrient cycling and breakdown of thatch.
