19 Apr 07 9:00In order to further improve the service and technical expertise it offers customers in the professional nursery industry, Scotts has appointed two additional personnel to its Ornamental Horticulture sales team.
Mike Humphries has 12 years’ experience in growing media sales and advising on growing media and fertilizers. Prior to that he was involved in his family nursery business and the produce industry. Mike will cover the northern Home Counties.
John Clarke has 16 years in the growing media and fertilizer industry and has run his own landscaping business. He will have responsibility for the West & North East Midlands and Lincolnshire.
Commenting on the appointments, Adrian Thirtle-Watts, Ornamental Horticulture sales manager, said: “Bringing Mike and John into the team will strengthen our levels of service to both new and existing customers. Using their knowledge of the industry and products we expect to build on an already successful business to further improve Scotts’ market position in the future.
“Scotts is committed to investment in both peat-based and non-peat growing media, as well as its market-leading fertilizers and controls,” Adrian added. “The company will continue to invest in people who are able to support these brands and provide high levels of service and advice to our customers.”
In addition to the new appointments, Scotts has made changes to its existing sales team. Simon Keeble, formerly area sales manager for the South East, has taken over the South West following the retirement of David Bandey. Key account manger Derek Gulliford has taken over the South East area, but will continue to fulfil his existing business development responsibilities.
