Scotts & Syngenta Unveil Revolutionary Turf Growth Regulator
31 Jul 07 13:50Scotts and Syngenta will join forces at this year’s show to launch the revolutionary liquid turf growth regulator, Primo MAXX, which is now registered for use in Ireland.
Developed by Syngenta and supplied by Scotts – Primo MAXX is designed for use on all forms of turf, from fine golf greens, to tees, fairways, semi-rough and rough areas. It can also be used on sports pitches, and coarser landscaping applications.
Using unique chemistry, Primo MAXX makes turf stronger by increasing both root and lateral shoot growth. It works by blocking the production of gibberellic acid late in the cycle, which effectively limits cell elongation. The result is a shorter distance between the shoot nodes, leading to more compact root growth. While the vertical growth is slowed, both root and lateral growth are boosted, creating stronger, healthier turf.

Also on the stand and making their first appearance at the show are Scotts SierrablenPlus and Sierraform GT fertilizers. SierrablenPlus is a range of long-lasting products which guarantee a more even colour and prolonged grass growth without the need for regular supplementary feeding. Innovative coating technology has been used to ensure an improved grass green-up and a longer-lasting effect of at least three months.
Scotts says Sierraform GT is the most powerful and well-balanced fertilizer available for golf greens. It’s the first golf green fertilizer to contain both slow-release nitrogen and slow-release potassium, which creates a unique dual effect. Nitrogen is delivered slowly, which means no growth spurts after application and a plant that matures more evenly. The inclusion of potassium ensures a stronger plant which is more resilient to extreme stresses such as frost, heat, drought and wear – all year round.
Scotts and Syngenta are also showing Heritage, the turf fungicide that delivers unparalleled preventative and early curative action against turf diseases and now has labelled recommendations for the control of more diseases than any other turf fungicide, including Fusarium Patch, Take-All Patch, Anthracnose, Fairy Ring and Brown Patch.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet Coleman Ward, Scotts’ new area sales manager for Ireland. Coleman has worked for NAD, Scotts’ distributor in Ireland, for nine years and is well known in the industry. His appointment is part of the company’s commitment to making greater investment in Ireland.
