This group of North West growers were treated to a relaxing day’s fly fishing at Goosnargh Reservoirs, Lancashire, thanks to sponsorship from Scotts. Derek Hampson, from Scotts, said: “We had a dry but overcast day and most of us caught trout. The star performer of the day was Jan Johansen, from Henry Alty, who landed a 6lb 8oz fish.

“Catering was basic, but filling. For lunch we had 10 tins of stewed steak, 10 tins carrots and 10 tins of new potatoes all mixed together and heated up on a gas stove. We also had three loaves of bread and four bottles of lemonade. It felt a bit like we were cowboys in the desert. It was a great day and very much appreciated by the growers.”
