Scotts Brings Growers Advanced Solutions

03 Oct 07 13:53

Scotts is demonstrating the breadth of its advanced product range with a display that includes a new contact and systemic insecticide, two biological controls, plus a wide range of fertilizers for horticultural production, field-grown crops, trees, hedging and turf.

     Exemptor
Exemptor is effective against vine weevil, aphids, whitefly and leaf beetles.
The company is featuring Exemptor, a new contact and systemic insecticide for the control of major soil and foliar pests in container-grown ornamentals. Exemptor, which replaces Scotts Intercept 5GR insecticide, is formulated for incorporation into the company’s growing media, including its peat-free products. It is effective against vine weevil, aphids, whitefly and – unlike Intercept – has the added benefit of controlling leaf beetles.

Also on show are two innovative new biological controls for turf – Nemasys G, for the control of chafer grubs, and Nemasys J, which combats leatherjackets. Both products contain beneficial nematodes which actively seek out and kill these pests that feed off and damage turf. Nemasys G and Nemasys J are natural, safe, easy to use and very effective at all larval stages.

Among the range of fertilizers on show is Osmocote Hi-End, a product that releases its nutrients in two stages to boost growth during different stages of the plant cycle. Scotts SierrablenPlus is also featured. This new generation of long-lasting fertilizers for turf guarantees a more even colour and prolonged grass growth without the need for regular supplementary feeding.

The stand also features Agroblen, a controlled release granular fertilizer for field-grown crops, including field-grown trees, hedging and stock plants.
