Good News - Intercept is Back!
20 Aug 08 16:00Scotts welcome the new registration of Intercept 5GR – the compost incorporated contact and systemic protectant insecticide – for use in container-grown protected crops.
“This is welcome news for all sectors of the protected ornamentals industry,” says Adrian Thirtle-Watts, Scotts Professional sales manager. “Containing imidacloprid, Intercept has been the market leading insecticide solution for over ten years for controlling major soil and foliar pests – namely sciarid fly, aphid, whitefly including Bemisia and vine weevil. Registration has again been granted for its use in controlling these key pests in all protected containerised ornamental crops.“
Complementing Intercept, Exemptor is the only contact and systemic growing media-incorporated treatment for the control of both soil born and aerial pests for use in containerised ornamentals grown outside.
Intercept 5GR is available from Scotts Professional in 5 and 25kg units. Alternatively it is available incorporated in to Scotts Levington and Shamrock branded growing media at a rate of 280g per cu metre. The drench formulation, Intercept 70WG, is available for use in treating plugs and liners before potting on into Exemptor or Intercept treated growing media.
“The new registration of Intercept means it is back in time to be used with this season’s Poinsettia crop, protected herbaceous crops prone to whitefly damage and autumn potted stock giving long term vine weevil control,” says Adrian Thirtle-Watts.
